Zlati panj (Golden Beehive) Fir Honey
Raw fir honey from Medex is a high quality honey of Slovenian origin. Its ingredients and delicious flavour make it one of the most valuable honey types.
The quality of raw fir honey from Medex is proven also by the Red Swallow national quality mark – a symbol of higher quality. The higher quality is ensured and maintained through additional manufacturing control and control of the product on the shelves, which are exercised by an independent certification body approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
What makes the Zlati panj fir honey different are its two main properties, essential for determining honey quality: the content of HMF, which indicates overheating, and the content of water. The Zlati panj fir honey fulfils the higher quality requirements: it contains less than 18 % water and less than 15 mg HMF per 1 kg honey (according to the Directive and Regulation relating to honey, honey can contain up to 20 % water and 40 mg HMF per 1 kg honey).
Fir honey is the most valuable honey type. Its colour is dark brown with a shade of green; it is thick and has a pleasant sweet flavour and tender scent of resin. It is rich in minerals and strengthens your immune system. It is recommended for people with anaemia or lung problems.
You can eat fir honey on its own with a spoon, use it as a bread spread or add it to different beverages and dishes, especially dairy ones. When preparing drinks, be careful not to put honey in liquids that are very hot, since its most important substances lose their healing properties at high temperatures. Fir honey also tastes great with dried fruits.
Natural honey slowly crystallises, but heating it up to 40 °C liquifies it again and keeps all its natural properties and substances.
Store in a dark place with temperature below 25 °C.

Honey is a natural sweet gift, given to us by bees that make it from flower nectar (floral honey) or from insect secretions that remain on trees as sticky liquid (honeydew honey). Floral honey types are wildflower honey, acacia honey, chestnut honey, lime honey, and canola honey; honeydew honey types are forest honey, fir honey, maple honey, oak honey, and spruce honey. Bees process nectar or honeydew, enrich it with their gland secretions, and store it in the beehive to ripen. Honey is the source of solar energy and life fuel in the beehive. It contains valuable nutrients, and is a rich nourishment and cosmetic substance.
