What is Kolagen flex +?
Powdered Kolagen flex + is a product with type II hydrolised and native collagen with hyaluronic acid, silicon, vitamins and added orange juice for relieving joint and back issues.
How does it work?
Kolagen flex + is intended as support for an active lifestyle at any age, even for younger people. It contains a unique combination of patented hydrolised Fortigel® collagen and type II b-2Cool® native collagen. The former contains collagen, decomposed into particles with a size of 3.2 kDa, which have better absorption properties, whereas the latter contains collagen in non-decomposed, natural form that does not require absorption in order to have an effect, consequently this combination acts in a complementary manner. Hydrolysed collagen stimulates the synthesis of own collagen, and type II native collagen prevents the decomposition of the cartilage’s own collagen. The loss of own collagen begins at the age of 18-29. After 40 the human body loses approximately 1% of own collagen, and at the age of 80 the production of own collagen decreased by 75% compared to younger people. Other factors contribute to this, such as free radicals in the body, diet, smoking, alcohol.
Collagen in the human body is found in the cartilage, bones and tendons. Cartilage is firm and elastic tissue that absorbs impacts and relieves strains in the joints and retains joint fluid. With aging the quantity of collagen in the body decreases, the regeneration process is not sufficiently efficient, and the joints wear out due to stresses over the years, which in many cases contributes to a deteriorating quality of life. As a result, we often avoid activities that cause such issues, which further impacts our health.
As cartilage wear progresses, pain may also occur while resting, which may hinder our daily activities. Joint cartilage wear may also lead to various arthritic conditions. Among the most frequent is osteoarthritis, affecting 10% of people between the age of 40 and 49, and 50% of people over the age of 80. Osteoarthritis is characterised by the deterioration of joint cartilage and bones, which may cause inflammation and pain, swelling, stiffness and poorer joint mobility.
What is the action mechanism of native collagen?
With its preserved 3D structure, native collagen stimulates the reduction of the immune system’s reactivity to own collagen in certain parts of the intestine – this mechanism is called oral tolerance and has a beneficial effect on affected joints, since it prevents the decomposition of own collagen.
How does hydrolysed Fortigel® collagen work?
Hydrolysed collagen acts through the reserve of basic building blocks (amino acids) and the stimulation of the cartilage collagen synthesis with short peptides. Absorption is needed for it to function, and its main effect is to stimulate the synthesis of own collagen. The daily dose of hydrolised collagen is 2.5-10 grams.
The hydrolysed Fortigel® collagen is a specific bioactive collagen that stimulates chondrocytes to synthesize own collagen. It is obtained using a specific enzyme decomposition and is the size of 3.3 kDa, which is optimal for the protection and regeneration of joint cartilage. At the same time, Fortigel® is a collagen that is the most researched collagen acting on joints in clinical studies (over 2500 persons in 20 studies).
Which minerals and vitamins were also added to Kolagen flex +?
We also added the patented form of ExceptionHyal® Star hyaluronic acid to the Kolagen flex + product. Hyaluronic acid is, in addition to collagen, one of the key building blocks of joint cartilage in the human body. Due to its capacity to bind larger quantities of water, it acts as some sort of lubricant for joints to better slide, and contributes to cushioning impacts to joints during stress and movement. The peculiarity of ExceptionHyal® Star is that it is a wide-range hyaluronic acid, i.e. with molecules of various sizes, which mimic the spectrum of naturally present hyaluronic acid in the body and enable a more comprehensive and efficient action.
The added vitamin C contributes to the production of collagen for the normal function of cartilage, bones and veins, whereas vitamins E and C contribute to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
The added silicon, which contributes to binding of collagen tissues and maintaining their firmness and elasticity, is also very important for the normal function of joints. It is also very important for correct bone mineralisation (strength).
