Bees pick pollen or bee bread at the stamens of blooming flowers. They moisturize the pollen with their saliva, nectar, or with honey from their honey stomach; it is rolled into little clods and wrapped for protection. Pollen, used for plant reproduction, is the most protein-rich source of a plant. For bees, it is an important source of proteins and is among honey and water as its primary food. It contains all essential ingredients for bee reproduction and is the basic ingredient of royal jelly, used to feed the queen bee. Among proteins, pollen contains many free amino acids (precisely 20 out of 22 natural amino acids), including eight which are essential for human beings. It is commonly known that 100 g of pollen contain as much protein as 500 g of beef or seven eggs. Two tablespoons of pollen (30 g) provide a daily allowance of essential proteins for adults (Source: Pedrotti, W. 2003).
That are five to twelve days old. They feed it to the queen bee, who is responsible for the survival of the species her entire life. The queen bee is the genetic equal to other bees. But feeding her exclusively royal jelly makes her grow twice the size of worker bees and allows her to outlive 15 generations. She is the only sexually mature bee in the beehive. The queen bee is believed to be the most fertile living being, laying up to 3000 eggs per day, with the total weight of the eggs she produces outweighing her. Royal jelly has been known to be used by pharaohs in Ancient Egypt, and they named it “the food of gods”. However, today we know its uniqueness is based on the unsaturated fatty acid 10 HDA (10-hydroxy-2-decenoic acid), found exclusively in royal jelly. The quantity of 10 HDA is an important quality factor for royal jelly. Therefore in Medex, we have standardised the quantity of HDA and thus provided guaranteed quality.
Propolis is a bee product used as a sealant to maintain a healthy beehive. It contains different plant resins, gathered by bees from tree buds and enriched by their gland secretions and added wax. Bees use this sticky mixture to fix the combs and coat inner walls of the hive, thus preventing the penetration of humidity and wind. Propolis is also a disinfectant, used to protect the hive from microbes. Bees also use propolis to embalm large intruders who enter the hive and subsequently cannot be removed. Propolis prohibits decomposition, which prevents infections and diseases in the bees. Propolis also evaporates in the hive and provides natural protection, enabling healthy development of the bee colony. The main healing substances in propolis are bioflavonoids – plant colouring that protect plants from microorganisms. The content of bioflavonoids determines the quality of propolis; therefore Medex has standardised these contents and guaranteed the quality of the product.
Vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system.
Riboflavin (vitamin B2) contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, and contributes to the maintainance of normal red blood cells.
