Honey is a natural sweet gift, given to us by bees that make it from flower nectar (floral honey) or from insect secretions that remain on trees as sticky liquid (honeydew honey). Floral honey types are wildflower honey, acacia honey, chestnut honey, lime honey, and canola honey; honeydew honey types are forest honey, fir honey, maple honey, oak honey, and spruce honey. Bees process nectar or honeydew, enrich it with their gland secretions, and store it in the beehive to ripen. Honey is the source of solar energy and life fuel in the beehive. It contains precious nutrients and is a powerful substance.
Royal jelly or gelée royale is the most precious gift of the beehive. It is produced by young nurse bees that are five to twelve days old. They feed it to the queen bee, who is responsible for the survival of the species her entire life. The queen bee is the genetic equal to other bees. But feeding her exclusively royal jelly makes her grow twice the size of worker bees and allows her to outlive 15 generations. She is the only sexually mature bee in the beehive. The queen bee is believed to be the most fertile living being, laying up to 3000 eggs per day, with the total weight of the eggs she produces outweighing her. Royal jelly has been known to be used by pharaohs in Ancient Egypt, and they named it “the food of gods”. However, today we know its uniqueness is based on the unsaturated fatty acid 10 HDA (10-hydroxy-2-decenoicacid), found exclusively in royal jelly. The quantity of 10 HDA is an important quality factor for royal jelly. Therefore, in Medex we have standardised the quantity of HDA and thus provided guaranteed quality of our products.
Thyme (Thymus vulgaris)
Thyme is one of the most widespread and popular herbs that has been used for centuries. This versatile herb was in the Mediterranean region cultivated by ancient Egyptians and Greeks. Thyme is a perennial plant with a very distinct scent.
Mullein (Verbascum thapsus)
Small-flowered mullein has yellow blossoms and hairy leaves spirally arranged along the stem, getting smaller at the top of the plant. The flower is also called a velvet plant. Our grandmothers picked mullein flowers, put them into a jar in layers combined with sugar, and set the jar in the sunlight.
Vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system.
